Conversations With Cubans

Viñales is a small town engulfed by a vast national park filled with beautiful wildlife and towering ridges. This is a protected area where the community members feel intense passion towards the environment. Carmel Hernandez González allows us to understand what it is like to be a farmer in this community and how that manifests in a passion for the environment.

Varadero is a completely different world compared to the rest of Cuba. It is 20 km of coastline along the Hicacos Peninsula full of all-inclusive beach resorts and hotels. In this area, a passion for the environment is seen in the protection of the ocean reefs. Francisco Serra Torriente lives and works in Varadero and describes how the Cubans in this area interact with the increasing number of tourists.
